Mandy Wright BHK, Practicing Kinesiologist

Picture

Mandy grew up in a small town, Hanmer Ontario. She moved to Ottawa to pursue her education in Human Kinetics, graduating with a French Immersion Bachelor’s Degree in 2016. Still striving to learn more about the human body and how it’s all connected, in 2018 she started a program in Osteopathic Manipulative Therapy at the Southern Ontario College of Osteopathy in Port Credit, Ontario. She completed all required 25 Osteopathic Manipulative Therapy courses and a practical thesis project; ‘Using a Lymphatic Approach to Pathologies of the Knee.’ In March 2020 Mandy moved to beautiful Kelowna and transferred her Kinesiology Registration to be a practicing Kinesiologist in BC. She is working towards being fully recognized in British Columbia as an Osteopathic Manipulative Therapist.
How did she become passionate in learning about how it’s all connected? Mandy suffered from asthma when she was younger, until she started running and playing sports. This led her to understand the importance of exercise for disease prevention. She then herniated two disks in her lumbar spine and received two concussions while training and playing sports. This led her to understand first-hand the importance of not only rehabilitation, but exercise prevention and continuous management. She taught exercises for pain management and prevention during one-on-one sessions as well as in group training; from mothers and toddlers to chair yoga for people with Multiple Sclerosis. Her treatment approach includes looking at the body as one dynamic unit of function; when you have an ailment in one area of the body, the structure and function of the entire body will be affected. Applying her gentle manual osteopathic techniques and exercise, Mandy aims to help aid the body back to a state of balanced function.

She can help with back and neck pain, headaches, concussions, asthma, anxiety, TMJ & Jaw problems, soft tissue injuries such as sprains, strains, and tendonitis, neurological disorders, peripheral nerve irritation such as sciatica and carpal tunnel, gastrointestinal disorders such as constipation / IBS and acid reflux, fibromyalgia, painful menstruation, pelvic pain, and bladder issues.

Mandy is in good standing with the British Columbia Association of Kinesiologists and provides her certification number at billing for people with extended health care benefits.
