Foivos (pronounced Fee-vos) Karatzos M.Ost grew up in Greece and obtained his 4-year Masters in Osteopathy from the European School of Osteopathy in the UK. A reputable school known for its wide variety of treatment approaches, including Structural (Dynamic techniques) and Functional (Subtle Techniques) compared to the majority of the Osteopathic schools. During his degree Foivos had extra training in treating mothers and babies osteopathically. His Dissertation was on Craniosacral osteopathy and its benefits on sleep.
He has practiced Osteopathy for 5 years at various Osteopathic and multidisciplinary clinics in Calgary. Foivos combines structural and functional techniques to develop customized treatments and create a safe space for the body to heal. |
Before his Osteopathic career, Foivos earned a major in Computer Information Systems, and studied Traditional Chinese Medicine with a special interest in Shiatsu, acupressure, cupping and moxibustion, acupuncture, electroacupuncture and aesthetic acupuncture. Although Foivos no longer practices Chinese Medicine/ acupuncture, his previous studies, along with his passion for psychology, allows him to create a safe space and inspire Foivos’s current osteopathy
Foivos is a certified yoga instructor and loves practicing Acro-Yoga, Contact Improvisation, and Animal Movement. He uses these movement practices and his own body awareness to develop highly customized healing exercises for patients.
Foivos is inquisitive and keenly sociable. Outside work he enjoys snowboarding, camping, setting team building activities and tinkering and exploring biomechanics further with DIY creations in makerspaces.
He is excited to be part of the Balance Point Acupuncture and Integrative Medicine crew and to serve Kelowna.
